Understand why — not just what
The AI coach guides pupils through the full investigation method: hypothesis, design, calculation and conclusion.
Investigation guide
Step by step through setup, measurement and analysis.
Hypothesis trainer
AI helps pupils form falsifiable hypotheses.
Calculations
Step-by-step with units and significant figures.
Safety
Built-in safety protocols for every experiment.
Hypothesis workshop
The coach walks pupils through hypothesis writing, variable identification and experimental design.
Calculations with units
Built-in maths engine with SI units, significant figures and uncertainty analysis.
Physics & chemistry coach
How it works
Pick an experiment
From curriculum or teacher task.
Form a hypothesis
AI challenges and sharpens the wording.
Run & calculate
Pupil works; AI helps when stuck.
Conclude
AI guides to a well-reasoned conclusion.
Use cases
Science projects
Whole investigation cycle.
Homework
Explanations without giving answers.
GCSE / A-Level
Bridging to higher study.
Lab report in Year 8
Pupils document their own experiments — the coach corrects structure, not the conclusion.
A-level Physics
Differential equations, waves and thermodynamics explained step by step with worked examples.

Teacher & school — two angles on one tool
For the physics/chemistry teacher
The coach follows the scientific method step by step — hypothesis, measurement, calculation, conclusion. The AI asks questions, doesn't hand over answers.
- ·Safety check before starting
- ·Calculation help with units
- ·Socratic conclusion help
For the school
The combined science exam covers physics/chemistry, biology and geography — the coach logs coverage so the team knows what's missing.
- ·Coverage of competence areas
- ·Compare year groups
- ·Ready for combined science exam

Frequently asked questions
Does AI just give the answer?
No. The coach guides through the method — pupil calculates.
Can we use it in tests?
Yes. Teacher has integrity data and can adjust access.
Which curriculum goals does the Physics and Chemistry coach cover?
The coach is mapped to England's National Curriculum for Physics and Chemistry (KS2–KS4 programmes of study) and AQA/Edexcel/OCR specifications at GCSE. Teachers see coverage per lesson and per year plan.
What happens to personal data in the conversation?
Every prompt is scrubbed for NI numbers, email and pupil names before it reaches the AI (our PII guard returns 422 on a hit). Nothing is used for training, and only the school admin can review prompt audit logs.
Can the teacher turn the AI coach off for individual pupils or classes?
Yes. The AI coach can be disabled per class, set or individual pupil under Productivity AI controls. Pupils then see the same workspace without the AI buttons.
How does coach activity show up in My Learning and the Gradebook?
Each session is logged on the pupil's knowledge map and can be linked to lesson preparation and the year plan. Teachers see engagement, AI use and artefacts in the Gradebook — AI answers themselves never produce a mark.
